  1. The Glossary Window defines both statistical
  2. terms and terms used in SPSS.  You can paste
  3. the definition into the active window.
  4.  
  5. If you request the definition of a term that
  6. is not in the glossary, the Glossary Window
  7. displays a definition for the closest
  8. alphabetic match.
  9.  
  10. You can leave the Glossary Window open while
  11. working in SPSS.
  12.  
  13. REQUESTING DEFINITIONS
  14.   To request a definition, do either of the
  15.   following:
  16.  
  17.  • Type the term into the Search Entry field.
  18.    The Glossary Window searches incrementally
  19.    (that is, it immediately displays a
  20.    definition when you begin typing, and
  21.    continually defines the term that is the
  22.    closest alphabetic match to whatever you
  23.    have typed so far).

  25.  • Use the mouse to select a term or terms from
  26.    either an input window or the Output Window.
  27.    Then click on Lookup to enter the term
  28.    into the Search Entry field.  You can select
  29.    the term before you open the Glossary Window,
  30.    or while the window is open.

  32. To search sequentially through glossary entries,
  33. use the Previous and Next buttons.

  37. Lookup
  38.   Pastes a selected term into the Search Entry
  39.   field.  If nothing is selected n the
  40.   active window, the word at the current cursor
  41.   position in the active window is used as the
  42.   selected term.

  44. Previous
  45.   Displays the glossary entry previous to the
  46.   term currently defined.
  47.  
  48. Next
  49.   Displays the glossary entry that follows
  50.   the term currently defined.

  52. PASTING DEFINITIONS INTO THE ACTIVE WINDOW
  53.  
  54. To paste the Glossary Window's current
  55. definition into the active window
  56.   • Click Paste definition.  
  57.     The entire definition is pasted into the
  58.     active window, beginning on the line
  59.     below the insertion point.
